W.O.W. - Women of
Worth for girls is a national organization of local girls clubs which takes a stand against the often degrading images of
young women depicted in much of today's popular social culture. The "Weapons
of Integrity" tea and curriculum is an introduction to W.O.W. for
girls designed to give young women a forum to discuss the moral
and ethical challenges they face. It presents such topics as
self-esteem, validation, healthy coping strategies, dealing with
“mean girl” behavior and relational aggression, setting
boundaries with our bodies, and how to choose a boyfriend.
Set
within the context of the “Warrior Princess” (because
it’s not enough just to sit around and look pretty) W.O.W.
for girls empowers
adolescent and pre-adolescent women to develop character and moral integrity, take responsibility for their
choices, and give back to their communities. If you know of a young woman, ages 11-19, who you think would benefit from this kind of program, then please invite her. Of course, moms, dads, and teachers are welcome too, as well as anyone else who is in the position to influence a young girl’s life.
